Fifth-place finish with Lucas Oil MLRA at Lakeside
Spencer Diercks kicked off his Labor Day weekend on Friday with a visit to Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.) to compete with the Lucas Oil LateModel Midwest Racing Association (MLRA) for the Clyde Ellis Memorial. (Todd Boyd photo)
Drawing 21 cars, Diercks followed up the 13th-fastest qualifying effort with a fifth-to-third run in his heat. With $5,000 on the line in the feature, Spencer carried a steady pace in the 30-lapper to finish fifth. He followed Chase Junghans, Andrew Kosiski, Aaron Marrant, and Payton Looney across the line.
For the Ron Jenkins Memorial on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.), Spencer missed a transfer spot by one car in his heat, relegating him into the B-Main. After picking up a 10-lap consolation victory, Diercks started the $7,000-to-win A-Main in 18th but was an early exit on lap 13.
