Top-5 finish in Modified at Davenport Speedway

On Friday afternoon Spencer Diercks made the short trip to Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) pulling double duty in his Late Model and Modified. In a field of 36 Hoker Trucking Series entries, Spencer secured his spot into the opening night feature with a 10-lap heat race victory. With $5,000 on the line, Diercks wheeled his way into a podium spot early and began tracking down race-leader Andy Eckrich. After closing in on Eckrich, Spencer lost a radiator cap while entering turns three and four that sent him over the cushion. He was credited with a 23rd place outing in the 40-lap affair. In his Modified, Diercks passed six cars in his heat race to place second behind Brunson Behning. Earning the eighth-starting position for the A-Main via the redraw, Spencer marched forward four spots to register a fourth place finish behind Brunson Behning, Tom Berry Jr., and Chris Simpson with Ken Schrader coming in fifth.

On Saturday evening only competing in the Modified ranks, Diercks came one spot shy of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place outing. Streaking to an 8-lap consolation victory, Spencer locked into the 13th-starting position for the A-Main. Coming two spots shy of a Top-5 finish, Spencer passed six cars to place seventh.
